Every generation of enterprise technology meets the same problem. The power is real, the infrastructure works, and still the people whose work depends on it cannot reach it, because the technology does not speak the language of the work. The gap looks technical. It is structural. And it is always closed by the same kind of layer.

We have seen this before. Thirty years ago, the relational database held enormous power that business users could not reach. The answer was not another database. It was a semantic layer above it, one that spoke the language of the business. That layer became business intelligence, and it reshaped how organizations used their own data.

Today the power is generative AI, and the gap has reopened inside legal work. The models are capable. They are fluent, on their own, strangers to the work. They operate in sessions while law operates in matters; they generate text where firms need governed execution; they forget what a practice cannot afford to forget.

We believe the answer is the same architectural answer, applied to a new domain. A semantic layer above the models, speaking the language of legal work. A layer that remembers, orchestrates, governs and endures, while the models beneath it improve and rotate. A layer that lives inside the tools lawyers already use, so the work never has to move and the data never has to leave.

We did not build another assistant. We built the layer the work was missing.
